Never sweep or vacuum mouse droppings, urine, or nesting materials dry — all cleaning must be done carefully to protect you and others.

Why the Entire Active Area Needs Disinfection

Mice urinate approximately 80 times per day as they travel, leaving a near-continuous trail of urine on every surface they walk on. Every countertop, shelf, drawer, and floor area in the active zone needs disinfection — not just areas with visible droppings.

Gather the Right Supplies

• Disposable rubber or latex gloves
• Disposable mask (N95 for extra safety)
• Disinfectant spray or 1:10 bleach-water solution (1 part regular unscented bleach : 10 parts water)
• Paper towels or disposable rags
• Sealed garbage bags

Fabrics and Soft Materials

Wash contaminated clothing, bedding, and curtains in hot water. Use the hottest dryer setting. Heavily contaminated items that cannot be washed should be discarded.

Final Steps

Dispose of all gloves and cleaning materials in a sealed bag. Wash hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds. Then seal any entry points and store food properly to prevent return.
