Why Leaves Turn Pale or Lose Color

 

When leaves on your plant start losing their rich, green color and look pale—sometimes with yellowish, whitish, or faded patches—this is a sign that the plant is stressed or missing something essential for its health. • Nutrient Deficiency: Plants need specific "nutrients," which are like vitamins and minerals for us. The most important one for green leaves is nitrogen, which helps form chlorophyll (the green pigment in leaves). If the soil doesn't have enough nitrogen or other nutrients (like iron, magnesium, or potassium), leaves start to lose their green color, beginning with older or lower leaves.
• Too Much or Too Little Water: If you water your plant too much or too little, its roots can’t take up nutrients as they should. Overwatering often leads to roots rotting and not working well, while underwatering dries the plant out and blocks nutrient flow. Both problems can make leaves look faded or yellow.
